Internship

Internship

An internship is ideal for a mandatory practical semester (eg. FH students), for bridging a semester before your Master’s or as you approach the end of your studies.

Prerequisites

  • Enrolled at University at least in the first month on your internship
  • Available full-time for 6 months

Are you a non-EU citizen? You are welcome to apply at RBI!  However, we can only obtain a work permit if it's a mandatory internship from an Austrian University.

Summer Internship

What does it look like?

Our summer internship is the perfect opportunity for students and pupils to dive into the professional world during their summer breaks. Many of our past interns have gone on to join us as working students, paving the way for the future. Summer internships typically last from 1 to 3 months, primarily in July, August, and September.

We offer positions in various fields, such as Finance, Investment Banking, and Administration, at RBI and our subsidiaries, including Raiffeisen Bausparkasse, Raiffeisen Leasing, Raiffeisen Capital Management, Raiffeisen Group IT GmbH and ZHS.

What does it look like?

Our summer internship positions are published every year between January and February for around 2 weeks. When applying, please submit your CV and a letter of motivation.

Prerequisites

  • At least 17 years old
  • Available for 1-3 months during summer
  • Full-time availability for full month(s) (eg. whole month of July) 

Are you a non-EU citizen? You are welcome to apply at RBI!  However, we can only obtain a work permit if it's a mandatory internship from an Austrian University.

Trainee Program

Trainee Program

What does it look like?

Are you a recent graduate eager to explore various fields before committing to a specific path? Our trainee programs, which allow you to rotate through different departments, might be just what you need to gain a well-rounded understanding.
We offer three exciting programs:

1. Corporate & Investment Banking Trainee Program

  • 18 months full-time
  • Open for Bachelor or Master graduates
  • Rotation journey: Capital Markets, Corporate & Institutional Customers, Credit Analysis, Risk & Compliance, Structured Finance & Investment Banking, Transaction Banking etc.
  • 2 months in one of our network banks abroad at the end of the program

2. Risk & Compliance Trainee Program

  • 12 months part-time
  • Open for Bachelor or Master graduates & Master students
  • Rotation journey: Capital Market Compliance, Blockchain, Sustainable Finance etc.

3. Asset Management Trainee Program – at Raiffeisen Capital Management (RCM)

  • 12 months full-time
  • Open for Bachelor or Master graduates
  • Rotation journey: Product Management, Sales, ESG, Risk etc.
  • 2 weeks stay abroad at partner company in Italy or Slovakia

Our trainee programs usually open every second year, with application phases in spring or autumn, and employment commencing in the following season.

Prerequisites

  • Initial practical experience during your studies
  • Fluency in English and at least B1+ proficiency in German (RCM trainee program requires fluency

Job Opportunities & Eligibility

Our summer internship positions are published every year between January and February for around 2 weeks. Pupils and university students aged 17 and above can apply for these.

Yes. It is mandatory to be an active student (enrolled) for all student vacancies at RBI. For internships you need to be enrolled at least in the first month of the internship.

No, we do not offer positions for apprentices.

My Application

We offer student jobs & internships all year long. It makes sense to apply 2-3 months before your planned start. For student jobs, the best time to apply is in the last year of your Bachelor's or right at the beginning of your Master’s since students usually stay with us for around 2 years.

Yes, however, ensure you have compelling reasons for your interest in each specific job.

It varies and is determined on a case-by-case basis. Typically, if you have a lot of relevant work experience, you may be considered overqualified, and we recommend you apply for junior or professional positions instead.

Working Conditions and Compensation

One of our USP as an employer is offering flexible working hours for our students to make work & study possible at the same time. We generally offer our employees the opportunity to work from home for some days per week (depending on the department). Additionally, all employees can work from abroad (within the EU) for 30 days per year. The conditions and frequency for students are to be agreed upon with the respective hiring manager. You are invited to bring up the topic in their first interview.

  • Internship & Student Support Jobs: gross EUR €2538,57 (on a basis of 38.5 hours)
  • Summer Jobs: for pupils gross EUR 900.00, for students gross EUR 1,400.00 (on a basis of 38.5 hours)
  • Trainee Programs: gross EUR 3.174,54 (on a basis of 38.5 hours)

Please note, that our students receive a salary in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement which is non-negotiable.

Language & International Students

No, if German is required, this is indicated in the job ad.

Yes, our positions are open for all nationalities. However, there are some restrictions. For student jobs, students from non-EU-countries may not work more than 20 hours per week and for internships, RBI can only obtain a work permit if it's a mandatory internship from an Austrian University.
